Mr. Gideon Mmolawa is currently the Deputy Permanent Secretary – Ministry of Trade and Industry. In his role, he provides strategic leadership and coordinates internal and international trade issues and advises the Permanent Secretary on appropriate strategies and policy issues relating to trade. He joined the Public Service in June 1992 as an Assistant Economist and rose to Chief Economist at the Ministry of Finance. He has had a stint as Director in the Department of International Trade and as Deputy Director in the Department of Industrial Affairs both in the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
Mr. Gideon Mmolawa holds a Master of Arts Degree (Development Policy and Public Administration) and a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Economics and Accounting).
Mr. Mmolawa has served in the Boards of Botswana Bureau of Standards, Public Enterprises Evaluation and Privatisation Agency, and Citizen Entrepreneurial Development Agency. Other assignments include Coordinator of the European Union and the Southern African Customs Union plus Mozambique and United Kingdom Economic Partnership Agreements.
