In the past month, the number of COVID-19 cases and the number of affected countries have increased drastically. It is with deep concern that the pandemic has hit our borders forcing us to escalate the crisis to the highest level. This follows the gloomy recent developments reported by the Health and Wellness Minister, honorable Dr. Lemogang Kwape confirming three (3) cases of Covid19 in Botswana, on Monday 30th March 2020.
We at BDC, like the Government of Botswana have been preparing for this eventuality. His Excellency the President of the Republic of Botswana, Dr. Mokgweetsi Eric Masisi has declared a state of emergency and extreme social distancing for the nation effective 2nd April, midnight for a minimum period of twenty-eight (28) days. As a Corporation, we have now elevated this pandemic crisis to the highest level and adjusted our response thereof in line with our Business Continuity Management plan. This therefore means, as part of our response, the Corporation will have ALL its employees work from home effective 31th of March 2020 until the end of the prescribed lockdown as set out by government. We wish to assure all our stakeholders that the Corporation will strive to keep all critical business activities ongoing during this period.
The health and safety of our employees and stakeholders at large remains our priority. We therefore encourage all to continue to take precautions as has been, and indeed adjust them up in response to the situation on the ground as per given instructions and guidelines by health authorities. We commit to keeping all our stakeholders updated on new developments as we continue to monitor and evaluate the situation to ensure response in line with Government’s guidelines and recommendations
