FIRST CONSIGNMENT OF GIROLANDO CATTLE FROM BRAZIL ARRIVES IN BOTSWANA

Milk Valley Farm welcomed the first batch of high-yield Girolando dairy cattle from Brazil, marking the start of a phased programme that will see 1,000 world-class dairy cattle introduced to the farm. This is about far more than the arrival of cattle. It is another important step towards building a stronger dairy industry for Botswana. Over the past few years, Milk Valley Farm has been laying the groundwork through significant investments in modern infrastructure, advanced farming systems, a carefully developed feed regime, and robust biosecurity measures. These efforts recently culminated in the farm achieving "Approved Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD)-Free Dairy Compartment Status," reinforcing its commitment to world-class animal health and operational excellence. As the herd grows, so too will the opportunities it creates. The project is expected to strengthen local milk production, enhance food security, create jobs, develop specialised skills, and unlock opportunities for citizen-owned businesses across the dairy value chain.
